Sacred.

It would be appropriate to write something about Easter and the significance of this time of year for Christians. On the other hand, it feels like a conversation that has been happening for centuries, and I doubt I'd offer anything unique in my opinion, analysis, or reflection. During this time of year, in addition to the story of Christ, I think of Wendell Berry's quote, “There are no unsacred places; there are only sacred places and desecrated places.” This idea comes to mind as I explore local landscapes and contemplate what makes a place sacred. I also wonder how historical events may have desecrated a landscape that was once beautiful and ecologically balanced. The concept of resurrection is powerful.
