Drought.

Living at the headwaters of a water basin feels like hitting the jackpot, especially when considering the potential challenges of drought that Alberta may face this coming summer. There has been a lot of discussion at the provincial level about drought and what measures can be taken to resist this ecological event. Although there are measures we can take to avoid drastic repercussions, I'm not confident that human intervention can prevail over natural patterns. As history has shown, the government has great potential to overstep the boundaries of its citizens when it is convenient for their planning. Therefore, increased dialogue about ecological disasters and the use of extreme language will be an indicator of how far measures will be taken to 'protect' people. Resilient, interconnected, and trusting relationships are essential for communities to thrive during challenging times.
