Grey Mountain, Yukon.

One of the first drives I made when we bought our Jeep was up Grey Mountain, just north of Whitehorse. The road can be treacherous, but it brings you nearly to the top of the mountain. The day I went up was frigid, and the views were incredible. Crowning the iconic mountain were gnarled trees that have endured some of the harshest conditions on earth. What helped most with the contrast in the photos was the frosted needles and the dark forest below. I spent about an hour walking down adjacent trails and attempting various compositions before I began the descent. If you have the opportunity to drive up any of the mountains near Whitehorse, I highly recommend it.
